The Exhibit “New Concepts of Textile Design” challenges common perceptions of what textile design can be. It is a glimpse into an evolving field. By displaying a broad spectrum of projects, the exhibition touches everything from traditional techniques to more experimental and artistic projects focusing on context and tactility. Materials range from latex, silicone, plastic and traditional textile materials such as fabrics and yarns. Experimental development of materials is what ties the exhibit together.
Textile design can entice people to have sensory experiences with objects. This desire for sensory stimulation drives young textile designers to explore uncharted territories of design.
